Preliminary scope of work
Preliminary scope of work in English
From a methodological point of view, I firstly focused on the comparison of official positions and statements of both presidents on the conflicts in which NATO and the EU played important role. Originally I chose the mission in Afghanistan, Georgia, Macedonia and the Congo, but after the consultant's recommendations, I narrowed the selection to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, the Artemis mission in the Congo and EUFOR in Chad. This change took place mainly due to lack of similarities between originally selected missions. After analysis of the statements I have focused on the analysis of France's participation in selected missions from the perspective of military or financial participation. By further comparison of statements and participation of France in the specific missions I hope to answer the question, among others, whether the French participation in NATO has been and will be counterbalanced by greater participation of France in Europe de la Défense through the Common Foreign and Security Policy.
