Preliminary scope of work

Bakalářská práce Aplikace teorie her na rozhodování v Radě bezpečnosti OSN pojednává o analýze rozhodování v této instituci s přihlédnutím k vnitřnímu politickému uspořádání stálých členů. V první části se práce zabývá teorií her jako nástrojem analýzy obecně. Zásadní koncepty jsou doplněny grafy, tabulkami a obrázky, které usnadňují pochopení. Ve druhé části práce nastíní fungování Rady bezpečnosti OSN a její specifika jako je například užití veta. Ve třetí části se práce pokusí modelovat typy aktérů a specifika kritérií jejich rozhodnutí. Dále vysvětlí princip zisku na národní a nadnárodní úrovni a skládání zisku na těchto dvou úrovní a analyzuje výsledky z hlasování o rezolucích. Data použita k analýze jsou hlasování, kde došlo k užití veta mezi lety 1985 až únor 2011. Na závěr je předložena interpretace provedené analýzy a výsledky statistického testování.

Preliminary scope of work in English

Bachelor thesis Application of Game Theory on Decision Making in UN Security Council aims to present an analysis of decision making in this institution with regard to internal political settings of the permanent veto-wielding members. In the first part, game theory is discussed as such and certain important concepts of this analytical tool are explained. Crucial concepts are complemented with a number of graphs, tables and figures that aim to make understanding easier. In the next part Security Council is presented as an institution and certain specifics are explained. In the third part different types of actors are modeled and also corresponding specifics of their criteria in decision making procedure. Moreover, the mechanism of adding utilities from two different levels (domestic and international) is explained. Data used for the analysis are votes when the veto was cast between 1985 to February of 2011. Finally, an interpretation of the analysis is presented together with results of statistical tests.
