Preliminary scope of work

Brouci tribu Enoplotrupini (Coleoptera:Geotrupidae) jsou v západní palearktické oblasti zastoupeni dvěma rody: Chelotrupes a Typhaeus. První zmíněný rod je striktně vázaný na přímořské písčité ekosystémy částí západního Středomoří a atlantského pobřeží Pyrenejského poloostrova. Cílem práce je zrevidovat taxonomii rodů Chelotrupes a Typhaeus a zrekonstruovat fylogenezi této skupiny za použití moderních molekulárně fylogenetických metod a dále zrekonstruovat za použití stejných metod fylogenezi celého tribu Enoplotrupini na rodové úrovni. Současné taxonomické členění rodu Chelotrupes je postaveno pouze na morfologických znacích.

Preliminary scope of work in English

Beetles of the tribe Enoplotrupini (Coleoptera: Geotrupidae) are represented in the western Palearctic region by two genera: Chelotrupes and Typhaeus. The former genus is strictly associated with coastal sandy ecosysems in parts of the Western Mediterranean region and Atlantic coast of the Iberian peninsula. This project aims to revise the taxonomy of the genera Chelotrupes and Typhaeus and to reconstruct their phylogeny based on up-to-date methods of molecular phylogenetics. It also aims to reconstruct the phylogeny of all the representatives of the tribe Enoplotrupini at the generic level. The current taxonomy of the genus Chelotrupes is based only on morphological data.
