Preliminary scope of work
This work will be focused on the characterization of unusual metabolic pathways in anaerobic protists particularly in free living anarobic amoeba Mastigamoeba balamuthi and parasitic Entamoba histolytice.Preliminary experiments showed that Mastigamoeba possesses peroxins that are responsible for peroxisome biogenesis which is not expected as anaerobes are believed to lack these organelles. The study will be focused on the characterization of putative anaerobic peroxisomes
