Náplní práce je shrnout základní poznatky o činnosti astrocytů v zajišťování energetické homeostázy mozku a homeostázy mozkomíšního moku. Hlavní zřetel by měl být kladen na novější poznatky v této oblasti, zejm. na tzv. model laktátového výměníku a glymfatický systém.

Preliminary scope of work in English

The aim of this thesis is to review the role of astrocytes in the maintenance of energy homeostasis in the brain as well as the homeostasis of cerebrospinal fluid. The emphasis should be put upon the recent findings in the field, particularly the lactate shuttle hypothesis and the glymphatic system.
