Guidelines
It is a common practice to use a syntax highlighting editor for editing database queries expressed in SQL, XQuery or other similar query languages. Unfortunatelly, there is a very restricted number of usable editors for SPARQL. SPARQL is a querying language for RDF data. Its importance grows with the number of applications of RDF and Linked Data principles on the Web as well as in the internal enterprise environment. However, syntax highlihting is not enough in the case of SPARQL. It is also necessary to autocomplete fragments of the query with respect to the queried source data as well as target schema which defines the structure and semantics of the output of the query. The author of this thesis will design and develop such editor of SPARQL queries. The editor will be able to explore the source data and target schemas (ontologies) to provide a usable autocomplete of fragments of SPARQL queries. The editor will be implemented as a web application using JavaScript and HTML5.
