Guidelines
With the huge expansion of smart devices and mobile applications, the ordinary users are consistently changing the conventional similarity search model. The typical query-by-example principle and the well-known keyword searching have become just a part of more complex retrieval processes, as the end users want to explore the multimedia data to a larger extent. Furthermore, the new exploration techniques consider also entertaining and interactive use-cases of content-based browsing in multimedia collections, hence, users involved in the browsing could interact longer with a particular image retrieval system. The goal of this work is to analyze and generalize data exploration use-cases and then to design efficient and effective multimedia retrieval techniques for the use-cases.
