Preliminary scope of work
Cílem práce je prozkoumat nejasné stránky sociální biologie modelového druhu středoevropských netopýrů, Myotis myotis, zejména pak otázku vnitřní struktury mateřskýh kolonií a behaviorální resp. ekologické faktory (včetně termálního chování kolonie) zprostředkující integraci těchto societ. Základním postupem projektu je soustavné celosezonní terénní sledování tří kolonií (s odlišnými četnostními a úkrtytovými charakteristikami) s využitím kombinovaných instrumentálních technik (termovize, IR záznamy a akustické záznamy). Předpokládáno je získání velkého objemu primárních dat, jejich následné zpracování technikami kvantitativní analýzy a rigorosní testování naskýtajících se interpretačních hypotéz.
Preliminary scope of work in English
The project is focused on aspects of the social biology of a model species of mid-European bats, Myotis myotis, in particular the internal structure of breeding colonies and the behavioral and ecological factors contributing their social integration (including patterns of social thermogenesis and thermal balance of a colony). The study is based on continuous field investigation of three model colonies (differing in size and roost characteristics) throughout the season with aid of combined instrumental techniques (thermovision, IR camera and acoustic records). A large amount of primary data will be analyzed with aid of quantitative techniques with testing roles of particular behavioral and ecological variables.
