Suggestions to education (Both semesters)

When the course guarantor is selected, comments will be displayed regarding his/her teaching performance as well as that of all the other teachers teaching the course. If a teacher who is not the course guarantor is selected, only comments related to his/her teaching will be displayed.

We obtained lecture notes which was nice, however, it would be better to have them before lectures.
Nearly all lectures were quite chaotic - it was difficult to follow all ideas without lecture notes. In my opinion the exam did not correspond to the course worth 3 credits. It looked like a homework. It consisted of four not difficult, but long exercises. To solve them we did not need to know almost anything from lectures - just some basic facts and definitions. This exam did not test our knowledge nor what we learned during lectures and it was difficult to solve all exercises in the given time limit. There was also only one date of the exam in the examination period, which was very stressful. We were said that the next exam is in June. It would be great to have at least two or three dates of exams in this examination period. |

Lectures were rather chaotic and it was hard grasp everything even though the concepts were not difficult to understand once read through later.
It would help to clearly state some definitions before starting with examples and later prove theorems formally and not by using an example. |

+ The lecturer was willing to help. It was not a problem to arrange a meeting.
- I do not like the organization of this course at all. It was chaotic and quite demotivating. Homeworks Part of the classification were labworks. There were too many assignments. They were extremely time-consuming. I think half of them would be enough. The teacher checked our labworks at the end of semester (not before). We could ask for a feedback in the form of a meeting. However, he did not checked them before the meeting, so we had to explain everything to him (some of the labworks were from February...) I think he did not try to write some of these assignments himself, thus he could not estimate the difficulty. Lectures It seemed to me that lectures were not well-prepared. Most of students prefered reading materials at home. Practicals Practicals were just about writing our labworks. We could ask the teacher for help during practicals. Most of the students prefered to write the labworks at home. Exam The classification consisted of three parts. One of them was the final labwork. We obtained the labwork description at the end of the semester, thus we could not finish it before the examination period or holidays. Part of the labwork was a meeting where we had to explain our solution. The final labwork seemed too difficult to me and as far as I know nobody managed to finish it. The only resource was the book, where the algorithm was not described very clearly. There was a deadline - August. During August the teacher gave us an easier assignment and a new deadline. Grades The lecturer has a very funny system of grading. He grades you after comparing you with your classemates. If everybody fails to do something, you get better grade. If you have a clever classemate, you are unlucky and you obtain much worse grade for the same work. Most of the students obtain 2 or 3, only one or two students obtain 1. There are no fixed rules for grading, so you have to wait until everybody submits the labwork. Most of the students do not have the grade yet (15. 9.) |

Faruk is very willing to help if you ask. He also replies quite fast to e-mails. The organization of the course was, however, very chaotic.
There were in my opinion too many assignments (labworks) for the course's credit worth. Some of the assignments given to us he did not even try to check how relevant/difficult they are. Some of the assignments were very time consuming. Faruk also gave us an assignment, which was a part of the grade, during the last couple of days of the semester. A lot of the lectures seemed unprepared so most of the studednts did not even attend and instead learned the subjects from the materials provided, which were most of the time great. The lectures looked like he printed a couple of pages from the material short time before the lecture and highlighted the important parts. There also were no fixed rules for getting grades. Additionally nearly no one has grades to this day (15. 9. 2024). In general, the course seemed very unprepared. There were too many assignments (roughly twice as much compared to the last year) and the lectures were prepared poorly. |

Přednášky pana doktora Rudolfa byly má oblíbená část semestru, vyhovovala mi balance mezi precizností a srozumitelností. |

Covered topics were interesting, however, I think this course should be more formal.

Decent lecture notes were provided at the end of semester, though it would be better to give them out at the beginning of the semester, so people could pay more attention during lectures.
The exam did not correspond to a lecture worth 3 credits. There were 4 questions which were quite long to answer. It looked like a homework, but there was not enough time to think everything through. The exam did not entirely correspond to what was presented during lectures. |

The lessons were more confusing than helpful. It didn't help, that the course wasn't following any literature. There was no motivation given for what we were learning, some information seemed repetitive or obsolete. Furthermore, if you missed a lesson it was impossible to derive what the lecture was about from the other student's notes (which were basically blackboard transcriptions).
There were some notes given sporadically throughout the course, however most of them were given out a week before the exam. The course would be a lot better if it followed a book on this topic given out at the start of the semester. |

Topics are interesting. However, the course was not very good due to poor organization.

Nejvíce mě zaujalo téma dokazatelné bezpečnosti a náhodného orákula. Dále SDR, útoky na radionavigační systémy a podobně, kde mi jen chybělo pomalejší, detailnější vysvětlení základních pojmů a matematických obratů. Téma obfuskace programových kódů mi přišlo velmi teoretické, zajímaly by mě souvislosti s praxí. |
