| The student will write down basic properties of the house and Weil height and consider the relation of the corresponding Northcott properties over algebraic extensions of Q, of both finite and infinite degree. Then she will relate them to the non-existence of universal quadratic forms via bounding their small values, focusing both on general theoretical proofs and explicit arguments for forms of small rank. |
