Předběžná náplň práce
Over the past several years, a number of countries have shifted their diplomatic affiliations from Taiwan to the People's Republic of China, aligning with the "One China" policy. This trend has been particularly noticeable in Latin America, where five countries have made this transition in the last six years and where in addition to that, there is speculation about the potential for Paraguay and Guatemala to be next in line. Despite Taiwan's efforts to keep strong ties with its remaining allies, this shifting persists, suggesting that a complex geopolitical maneuvering is at play.

One valuable research approach to gain additional insight about this phenomenon is discourse analysis, which falls under the framework of Critical Geopolitics. Geároid Ó Tuathail's work argues that geopolitics should be critically re-conceptualized as a discursive practice. This implies that geopolitics encompasses not only physical actions and decisions but also how language is employed to shape our perception of the world. Such representations can influence political ideologies, interests, and even the intentions of state actors in the context of geopolitics. Through discourse analysis, we delve into power dynamics and other influential factors that inevitably affect strategic decision-making. This leads us to wonder what the underlying representations are present in news, official documents, and statements related to this matter in a world abundant with information.
