Topic characteristics:
In my opinion, the topic provides the ultimate understanding of the beginning of the democracy and the primary functions of a state known to a mankind today considering the Athenian democracy to be a cradle for the one we witness today, at least to a certain point. I examine Plato, Aristotle and their comparison of functions of a state based on the fact that their ideas vary significantly, therefore it is a good topic for a comparison of the two arguably most influential philosophers of all time. Namely the key concepts and words discussed in the Plato part are epistemology, rationalism, World of Ideas, The Allegory of the Cave, dualism. On the other hand, key words connected with Aristotle are empiricism, trusting the senses, the essential form of things, syllogism, Virtue ethics, reason, naturalism. These key words provide the reader a better understanding of what is going to be written in in the actual Bachelor thesis. To conclude, the end goal of my Bachelor thesis is to research and compare Plato with Aristotle and their ideal functioning state providing my own opinion and theory according to myself what the ideal state should look like keeping in mind Plato and Aristotle as the two of the most important people investigated in it, from whom I take the inspiration from, but ideas from other authors for a better understanding occur as well. Methodology: Along my research I intend to use an academic literature. The first one is the literature review from various books by many authors, which acts as a theoretical background for formulating my own statements focusing on Plato and the other on Aristotle. Many sources are being used to add value and critical evaluation from various scholars, so that I could form my own unbiased opinion. |
